This week RAM had the honour of attending the glittering ceremony of the National Business Awards 2012 held in London, as finalists for the Croner Employer of Year Award and what a fantastic night it was! The event showcases the best of British business, recognising excellence and innovation. The 1200 business leaders, 150 of them finalists, were addressed by the Prime Minister, David Cameron, amongst other figureheads such as the Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Danny Alexander and Olympic gold medalist Jessica Ennis.
Amongst the finalists were well-established brand names such as Marks and Spencer and Cisco, as well as smaller more innovative organisations such as children’s toy suitcase manufacturer Trunki. Of the 150 finalists, the businesses annual turnovers ranged from the highest being £19.3bn to the lowest being £135k.
Whilst addressing the audience, The Prime Minister described British business as being in a ‘global race’ and went on to say, ‘it is people like you that are helping us lift our economy out of a very difficult time… thank you for everything you are doing’. Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Danny Alexander, explained how ‘the Government is delighted to support this year’s National Business Awards as a celebration of the very best in British business’. Whilst later, Olympian Jessica Ennis shared her story of sporting success, after receiving a rapturous welcome by the crowd.
Marks and Spencer picked up the National Business Award gong for Sustainability, Cisco’s chief executive; Phil Smith was awarded Leader of Year, along with children toy suitcase manufacturers, Trunki, taking home the award for SME business of the year.
For our team here at RAM, it was true honour to be sat amongst the cream of British business successes and although we did not win our category this year, we are incredibly proud to have been recognised by such a prestigious event and to have made it all the way to finals. This experience has given us added passion to keep up the hard work and to continue to focus on the development our team and investing in our staff to ensure we provide our clients with the highest possible level of customer service.
Hopefully next year we might just bring home the award!
