Blood Bikes is a charity that has been supporting NHS services for over eleven years. In the early days, the organisation relied on riders’ and drivers’ personal vehicles. Within eight months, the charity acquired its own fleet, and with NHS operating guidelines to meet, vehicle tracking quickly became essential.
With previous experience using RAM Tracking in a commercial construction business, the decision to adopt it for Blood Bikes was straightforward, and the charity has remained a loyal RAM customer ever since.
Operating under NHS guidelines means reliability, accountability, and transparency are non-negotiable. All Blood Bikes vehicles are now tracked, providing clear visibility across the fleet and reassurance that vehicles are being driven safely and responsibly.
“All our vehicles have been tracked by RAM,” Denzil explains. Today, the charity operates a fleet of ten vehicles, all monitored through the same system.
RAM Tracking recently played a crucial role following a road traffic incident involving one of the charity’s vehicles. When a vehicle ahead slowed to turn right, the Blood Bikes driver reacted appropriately and reduced speed. Unfortunately, the van behind failed to stop and collided with the rear of the charity’s vehicle.
The data from RAM Tracking immediately provided clarity.
“We could print out a journey report for that particular vehicle that identified the speed the driver was doing,” Denzil team explains. “It showed that he was gradually braking and then identified the impact.”
This information, combined with footage from the dash cam, was shared with the third party’s insurers.
The clarity provided by RAM Tracking led to a rapid insurance decision.
“Within two hours, they waved a white flag, apologised for the accident, and offered to pay all of the costs in restoring it,” Denzil says.
This quick resolution was vital. If the vehicle had been taken off the road for months during a dispute, Blood Bikes may have struggled to meet its NHS service level agreements. Instead, the vehicle was only off the road for four days for repairs, allowing the charity to continue operating without disruption.
For Blood Bikes, RAM Tracking provides more than fleet visibility. It protects drivers, supports insurance claims, and helps ensure vital NHS services continue without interruption.
From meeting compliance requirements to resolving incidents quickly and fairly, RAM Tracking gives Blood Bikes the confidence to focus on what matters most, delivering critical support when it’s needed.
